Description
Borealis Counselling Services is pleased to provide this opportunity to introduce the role Mindfulness in supporting business owners and their employees.
“Mindfulness involves paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally, with curiosity and kindness, to things as they are” (Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn).
Have you ever had the experience of driving to a destination along a familiar route, arriving and realizing that you have no recollection of the journey? Most of us have! We have a tendency, due to the busyness of our lives, to live in a different time zone and Mindfulness sets us free from this habit by enabling us to focus our attention on what is happening in the present moment. Organizations benefit from having employees learn mindfulness strategies - paying greater attention and keeping awareness on what is taking place in the moment leads to an enhanced quality of work, increased productivity and safety. Research studies show that an employee’s ability to be less distracted improved after only a few days of mindfulness training. Mindfulness also increases productivity by warding off illness, increasing resilience to stress, and thereby preventing burnout. Mindful employees make better decisions, research shows, by helping to eliminate conditioning and biases that can lead to poor decision-making. Mindfulness training also helps us to gain clarity on what really matters, and avoid getting pulled into tasks that seem urgent, but aren’t important. This experiential workshop will introduce participants to the concept of mindfulness, provide hands-on experience with mindfulness exercises, and opportunities for introducing mindfulness in your workplace.
