DESCRIPTION:Free public lecture by Dr. David Smith of Keyano College. We live in an area surrounded by a vast boreal wilderness that extends northward to the Arctic. Despite a severe climate and long winters\, this wilderness has sustained local Cree\, Dene\, Inuit and M tis people for thousands of years. Especially in recent years\, northern ecosystems have experienced significant environmental degradation. Using personal photos and descriptions of his experiences Dr. Smith will focus on current and future threats to the ecology and people of the North in addition to offering possible solutions. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
