Three Years Running: Fort McMurray Trade Shows Named Best of YMM

For the third consecutive year, the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce has been voted Best Trade Show/Market in Best of YMM, meaning our Trade Shows have received the honour every year since the category was introduced.

This recognition carries special meaning for our Chamber. The success of the Fort McMurray Trade Shows was built over decades through the extraordinary dedication of the late Denise Barrow, whose passion and commitment helped establish the events as a beloved part of our community.

Today, that legacy continues under the leadership of our Member & Vendor Experience Specialist, Tammy McGlennon. Tammy continues to grow and evolve the shows, reaching across Canada to bring exciting new exhibitors and experiences to Wood Buffalo while ensuring the local businesses and longtime favourites our community loves remain at the heart of each event. Together with the entire Chamber team, that work continues to translate into record-breaking attendance, exhibitor sales, and new opportunities to showcase our region.

Most importantly, this award is chosen by the community. To everyone who voted, attends our shows, exhibits, sponsors, volunteers, shares our posts, brings their families, and continues to show such incredible enthusiasm for these events: thank you. Your support is what has allowed this tradition to grow from one generation to the next.

New Federal Infrastructure Funding Now Available

Applications are now open for the Government of Canada’s Build Communities Strong Fund, supporting eligible infrastructure projects across several priority areas, including housing, transportation, post-secondary and healthcare infrastructure, climate resilience, and community infrastructure.

The Direct Delivery stream is currently accepting applications for shovel-ready projects. Organizations with eligible projects are encouraged to review the program requirements and explore available funding opportunities.

Alberta Trade Mission to NABOC

Alberta businesses are invited to explore an opportunity to expand their networks and build meaningful partnerships through an upcoming trade mission led by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce.

Taking place September 15 to 17 in Osoyoos, B.C., the mission will connect participants with Indigenous leaders and businesses at the National Aboriginal Business Opportunities Conference (NABOC), while highlighting emerging opportunities within Canada’s growing Indigenous economy.

National Television Series Seeking Local Advertising Partners

The producers of 72 Hours to Survive, a Canadian wilderness survival television series filming in Fort McMurray this October, are inviting local businesses to explore advertising opportunities for Season 2.

Broadcast on Wild TV and distributed to audiences across Canada, the United States, Europe, and international streaming platforms, the series offers businesses the opportunity to reach a broad audience while showcasing the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo region.
