Roundtable with Secretary of State Wayne Long

The Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce was pleased to welcome the Honourable Wayne Long, Secretary of State (Canada Revenue Agency & Financial Institutions), for a private roundtable with Chamber members and community leaders ahead of Budget 2026.

The conversation brought together voices from across the business, education, social services, arts, and non-profit sectors to share regional priorities and provide local perspectives on the issues shaping Canada's economic future. Facilitating direct dialogue with government decision-makers is an important part of the Chamber's advocacy work, ensuring Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo's priorities are represented where they matter most.

Momentum Continues for Canadian Energy Infrastructure

Just days after the proposed Pacific Coast pipeline announcement, Alberta and Ontario have unveiled plans for the proposed Northern Shield Energy Corridor, a 3,300-kilometre pipeline connecting Western Canadian oil to southern Ontario refineries.

The proposal remains in its early stages and will require feasibility work, Indigenous engagement, and further planning, but reflects continued national discussions around strengthening Canada's energy infrastructure, expanding market access, and supporting long-term economic growth.
