Advocacy Update: Empowering Entrepreneurs Through Actionable Learning |

At the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce, we are committed to advocating for and supporting our local business community. One of the ways we do this is by providing programs that bring real value to our members?like the Level Up Your Business workshop, which recently brought together a group of entrepreneurs and business owners eager to turn their ideas into action.
This interactive session, led by business strategist Merin Coutts, gave participants the tools and structure they need to refine their business strategies, improve operational efficiencies, and set a clear path for growth. What makes this program even more impactful is the 6-8 months of follow-up coaching, where participants continue to meet monthly with Merin to implement their learnings and gain ongoing support.
Workshops like these are a direct response to the needs of our business community. We are always listening, always advocating, and always striving to bring meaningful opportunities to our members. When our local businesses thrive, our entire community prospers.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Government of Alberta Grant program for making this workshop possible. Their support enables us to provide impactful learning experiences that help strengthen and grow our local business community.

Health Care Professionals Loan Forgiveness |
|
|
Proposed changes to the Canada Student Financial Assistance Regulations and Canada Student Loans Regulations, will allow more health care and social services professionals working in rural and remote communities. These changes are expected to increase the number of loan forgiveness beneficiaries by about 8,000 starting in 2025?26 and by up to 19,000 in 2034?35. |

Alberta’s government has tabled its ninth Red Tape Reduction bill to further reduce regulatory burdens for Albertans and businesses.
“Alberta is the best in the country at cutting red tape and we want it to stay that way. Red tape reduction isn’t only about helping the economy ? it’s about improving the lives of Albertans from all walks of life. The changes we’re proposing in this bill will help thousands of Albertans ? including landlords, tenants, and students in the trades and post-secondary institutions.” -Dale Nally, Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction
