Productive Discussions with Minister Dreeshen on Regional Infrastructure, Economy, and Policy Priorities
|
Over the past week, the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce had the opportunity to engage in productive discussions with the Hon. Devin Dreeshen, Minister of Transportation and Economic Corridors. On Wednesday, February 5th, we participated in a roundtable meeting alongside business and community leaders to address key infrastructure priorities, including twinning of Highway 63 and building of 686, the widening of Highway 881, and other transportation improvements critical to connecting our communities and supporting economic growth. The conversation also touched on broader economic concerns, including the national economy and regional air transport. The following day, Thursday, February 6th, Minister Dreeshen visited the Chamber, where he engaged in discussions with representatives from the NFP, Howie Ewasko, and Ben Gill. The conversation highlighted sector-specific needs and explored the potential impact of tariffs on the lumber industry, as well as key policy initiatives the Chamber is currently advancing. Both meetings were highly productive, fostering valuable dialogue on the region’s transportation, economic, and policy needs.
