“Canada and the World Need More Fort McMurray” ? 2025 State of the Region Address By Mayor Sandy Bowman

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2025 State of the Region Address! As the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce, we are passionate about bringing value to our business community and serving as a platform for important conversations that shape the future of our region.

This year’s event, held at the Miskanaw Ballroom at MacDonald Island Park, featured Mayor Sandy Bowman, who emphasized the region’s resilience and economic potential, stating, “Canada and the world need more Fort McMurray. Our energy, our workforce, and our community are vital to the country’s future.” He addressed global and national economic challenges while reaffirming his commitment to local development, workforce retention, and industry collaboration.

Executive Director Dianna de Sousa highlighted the Chamber’s role in supporting local businesses, advocating for economic policies, and fostering growth. “We are committed to ensuring a strong, connected business community that drives sustainable growth and innovation,” she stated.

The event also featured a panel discussion with Andrew Rosser, Chair of Pathways Alliance Wood Buffalo Committee, and Kendall Dilling, President of Pathways Alliance, who provided industry insights on environmental innovation and economic sustainability.

With a strong focus on collaboration and progress, the State of the Region Address reinforced Fort McMurray’s role as a key player in Canada’s economic and social landscape.
